ONE WORD

2017 has come and we are almost reaching the end of the first month very soon! Most people
try making a new year resolutions list with good motivation but don't always end the year
being successful at fulfilling that list. So, instead of a long list of things we want to achieve,
I tried just "one word" for 2016 and I found it easier to achieve what I wanted to for 2016.

There's a great verse in the Bible that says God knows the plans that He has for us, to give us a
good future and hope (Jeremiah 29:11) and I love that. We may not always know how our year is going
to turn out or whether we will achieve all that we have set our hearts to or not but we can be
assured that our Creator knows all things and He's planned a great year for us.

Having said that, let's also bear in mind that the year will also have its own challenges and setbacks, disappointments and hardships; but we have the assurance that God has our back (Jeremiah 29:11) and if we put our hope and trust in Him, we will surely bounce back from those things. I am convinced that having your "one word" written out, typed or placed around your home will help you stay focus and on course and help you get to the finish line of 2017!

So for 2017, why don't you try "one word" or one theme that you would really like to achieve in all that you do and you will find yourself more fulfilled by the end of 2017! I did this with my daughter the other day and she came up with "love". I asked her why "love"? Her answer was cute yet meaningful. She simply wanted to be a better sister to her siblings and show love when they argue or fight and my mommy heart couldn't have been more proud of this young girl.

I know that God has great plans awaiting you this year and I want to wish you all the best that God has in store for you and your family.

I also encourage you to get your "one word" for 2017 and apply it in your personal life, in your work or education, in your relationships and definitely in your relationship with God. Make 2017 count!
